What is PreCanSkate all about?

If your child is 3-4 years old.... this is the program for them!

PreCanSkate

Instruction is done in groups, with professional coaches and program assistants (PA's) on the ice. PreCanSkate is a mix of fun and play on the ice through games and creative excercises. Parent assistance is not required on the ice. If permitted by the coach a parent or caregiver could volunteer on the ice if he/she can provide proof of ability to skate as a program assistant and MUST hold Skate Canada Insurance. It is important that skaters learn to rely on the instructors and their own resources immediately as this will speed up the learning process. Any skaters showing advanced capability will be moved to the CanSkate program within the first week with coaches approval, after the first week, no transfers will occur until the winter session begins.

Requirements

  1. Certified CSA Helmet
  2. Wear warm comfortable clothing. However, do not overdress skaters- once they are moving around, they become quite warm. The more clothing- the less mobility the skater has. Bulky clothing can make it difficult for coaches to assess body movement.
  3. Wear gloves
  4. Proper fitting skates. See EQUIPMENT AND CLOTHING PAGE FOR MORE DETAILS.
  5. Must be age 3 at the time of registration and not 5 years of age.
