SKATE CANADA Coach(s) - THE BEST COACHES

 

  • Coaches certified by the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), trained in teaching the mechanics and proper technique of skating.
  • Coaches are assisted by trained program assistants.
  • Ensures a 1:10 coach/program assistant to skater ratio or lower.

 

 

 

 

REGIONAL COACH

Bailey Bostrom

 

Bailey has been skating for over ten years and has gained valuable experience supporting the CanSkate program as a Program Assistant. Her passion for the sport and enjoyment of mentoring young skaters inspired her to pursue coaching at the regional level. She is excited to share her skills and enthusiasm with skaters this season

 

 

 

 

 

NATIONAL COACH

Blaine Snihor

 

Blaine brings more than 30 years of figure skating coaching experience. He began skating at age 11 to improve his hockey skating and went on to compete at the 1983 Canada Winter Games in Men’s Singles. He has completed Gold-level skating tests in skills, free skate, and dance, along with additional dance and pairs tests and National Coaching Certification Level 3.

Blaine served as Head Coach for Team Manitoba at the 1999 Canada Winter Games in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and has coached skaters to national competitions in singles, dance, and pairs. He has also apprenticed with Russian, American, and European coaches who worked at the World and Olympic levels.

 

 

Program Assistants

 

As a part of our skating program, STARSkate skaters must help out with the CanSkate program by assisting the coaches during weekly practices. Our Program Assistants (PA’s) dedicate their time to help our new and young skaters learn and develop new skills on the ice.

 

Additional Adult/Youth Assistants

 

ON ICE

  • must be able to skate with ease and be able to help others on the ice.
  • A coach will hold PA training lessons to get you set up for success.

Off ICE

In order to Supervise off ice -( either awaiting coach's arrival, or due to unforeseen circumstances,) an adult with First Aid Training and hold proof of that training and given consent from the coach will be allowed to supervise.
