Guidelines for Skaters and Parents

 

Security

  • Money and valuables should not be left in the dressing room or bleacher areas.

  • The club will not be held responsible for any items that have been lost or stolen.

  • Any member defacing Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation property or HFSC's property, or any other skater’s personal property will, at the discretion of the board, be subject to suspension.

  • Anyone caught in the act of theft will be subject to disciplinary actions as well as prosecution to the full extent of the law.

 

 

Code of Ethics  

        Skate Canada's vision, mission and values for the guiding principles and the building blocks on which this code rests. Living up to them is an essential part of meeting our organizational strategic imperatives, maintaining our foundational elements, and safeguarding Skate Canada's integrity, reputation and ethical practices. All individuals subject to this Code are expected to uphold and commit to the highest standards of behaviour to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals, exemplified by conduct and written and oral communications, as outlined in the Code.

Guidelines and Session Protocol

  • No cell phones on the ice.
  • The skater with the music has the right of way on the ice.
  • Skaters must arrive promptly at the start of the session.
  • Appropriate skating attire is required for all skaters on the ice.
  • Please use your time responsibly.
  • Skater MUST speak to the coach before leaving the ice for any reason.
  • Free skating is not permitted
  • No gum or food is permitted on the ice.

 

Consequences of failing to abide by the Code of Conduct

  • Step 1: Verbal Written Warning

             Coach or Coach Liaison provides immediate feedback with a written verbal warning - aligning rules, regulations and policies. Incident                              recorded as a verbal warning.

  •  Step 2: Written Warning

              Issued by board members or disciplinary committee in a disciplinary meeting. accompanied by Parent/guardian (if member is under 18).

  •  Step 3: Training modules

              Respect in training module & completion test questions

  •  Step 4: Suspension from activities

              Temporary suspension from practice or events

              (length determined by severity).

              Reinstatement requires meeting with the board of directors or disciplinary committee.
